Our Runescape free to play Money-Making Guide! ~ 02/2016

This has been in the "drafts" section in our blog posts for like 5 years. We've edited it some, and now have decided to post it. Enjoy. :)

This is the place... Gielinor. Like every place else, money is what makes it go. And there are a lot of ways of getting it.

You can earn it.
You can speculate for it.
You can win it... sometimes.
You can borrow it.
Or even buy it.
If you're desperate enough, you can beg for it; and when you do, I go to work. I carry a hatchet.

----------

We chose to make this because we can't find a decent f2p guide out there. They are simply inefficient at getting a relatively impressive profit. We do not use merchanting to gain money as we find it far too risky and complicated. Note that most of these work best with the explorers ring 3 for faster and more satisfying results.
Another important note, is to get your skill levels needed for each method up to a good number. This will increase the speed at which you can work and will in turn increase your income.

And remember... always sell in the "Grand Exchange" located in north-west Varrock. It's the only way to make a lot of money. Trust us.

Also, there is an easy way that we use to get to the G.E.. The Varrock teleport in your spell book. You'll need a magic level of 25 or over. It requires 1 law rune, 1 fire rune, and three air runes every time you want to cast the spell. (but if you don't want to use all those air runes, wield a staff of air and that will take their place. Or wield a staff of fire, to take the place of fire runes) Once you've used the spell, just head north-west of the west bank and you'll be there in no time.

Ok, here it goes. These methods are in no particular order.

----------

METHOD ONE - Chickens N' Fixin's

This one is very good for low-level players but don't be fooled, it can wield a lot of cash.

Go to the chickens south of Falador, right beside the cabbage field (be sure to cabbage-port with the Ex. ring 3 if you have it), and start killing those birds.

Grab the raw chicken, feathers, and the bones of every one you kill. When your inventory is full, which takes about 3-4 minutes, run to the Draynor bank with your goods, deposit, and repeat until bored or whatever.

METHOD TWO - Tree Splittin'

This one also is good for lower-level players. Just get a hatchet and start workin'.

Find an unoccupied Yew, Oak , or "Regular" Tree near a bank.

Just fill up on the logs, which shouldn't take long at all, and store in the nearest bank. Then, repeat.

This won't get you a lot of money fast. But you'll find yourself doing it more often than the other methods because of the simplicity. This makes it pretty enjoyable and keeps you coming back to it when you don't want to work so hard, but still want to be making money. So just keep banking them, and you'll have a good amount worth before you know it.

METHOD THREE - Apple Pickin'

This is probably one of the easiest ways we use to make a good amount of money. All you need is cooking level 32 or over, and a chef's hat. Then enter the chef's guild located in north-west Varrock with an empty inventory.

Go upstairs to the second floor. There you will find a table with two cooking apples on it. Grab them then head up the stairs to the third and final floor. There, is another table with one cooking apple on it. Grab it, then head back downstairs to the second floor and wait for the cooking apples to reappear. Repeat process until your inventory is full. Then exit the building, head east to the west Varrock bank, store the apples, then go back to the Guild. This will take around six minutes on an uncrowded server. Do this as many times as you want.

METHOD FOUR - Metal Man

Mining is one of the best ways of making money we have found. Head to either the mining spot south-west of Varrock, the one in Al-Kahrid, the dwarven mine (accessed in north-west Falador, just watch out for the scorpions). Mine all the ores you can, it doesn't matter which honestly. Once your inventory is full, offload to the nearest bank, or deposit box, and repeat process.

If using the Dwarven Mine, we recommend using the "hidden mine's" deposit box after gaining  the required 15 Dungeoneering skill level.

If you're using the Rimmington mine, use the cabbage teleport that comes with your Explorers Ring, and use the Draynor bank.

METHOD FIVE - Clay Wetter

To mine clay you'll need a mining of 1 or higher (great huh?). This is a very good method that works every time. The best spot we've found to mine clay for low level players, is the mining spot south-west of Varrock, making it soft in the the Varrock Sqaure fountains, and banking it in the west Varrock bank.

But if you have enough crafting experience, use the Crafting Guild while wearing a brown apron to get in, mine the clay, then turn it into soft clay using the sink there. Next, run outside the the Clan Camp bank, and offload.

METHOD SIX - Balloon Bash

Party Room BalloonsAnd last but not least... This one is very simple, and when it works, it's the most effective way of making money on F2P Runescape. And it requires no particular skill levels. It's the party room in Falador in World 3. Whenever there's a drop party consisting of items worth a large amount of money. Just attend it, and pop the balloons. Completely free, and completely worth it from time to time.
You can join a clan chat that advertises drop parties. Currently we use "wildbcat". They should tell you if there's a drop.
Oh, and don't deposit junk items into the chest, please.

----------

And that's it. Just use all of those methods, or pick a favorite few and stick to them.
