The Mist (book)

Alright, we bought the mist book last week and I read it. And all I have to say is wow. Not only does it have all of the good elements that the movie does but it takes those elements and makes them realistic, grosser, more exiting, and just awesome! Stephen King is without a doubt one of my favorite authors, and this story does not disappoint.
I loved it! The creatures in the book are gross, terrifying, and just how you would want them to be, at least for me.
For instance, the spider like things in the pharmacy were black, and had yellow stripes down their bodies. They had like over a dozen hairy legs and were on average the size of a big dog. And they didn't make that stupid sound all the time that they did in the movie. In the book they made a low weird sound when they were injured. Now why didn't they make them that way in the movie?!
The other creatures were also much grosser and realistically bug like. The tentacles had big suckers on there underside and those suckers were mouths! The things on the windows were like 3 feet long and and eyes on the end of 2 stalks, much more bug like. And the bird like things were albino white and had reddish eyes!
There of course were other creatures that were different in the books, like the thing that killed Ollie towards the end, it was lobster red and had a body like a scorpion that drug on the ground I think.
It also described they saw the shadow of a nightmarish "kite like" creature that flies over them. There were more creatures in the book than there were in the movie.
The book was much more realistic and interesting. If you like creature type horror things, please read this. It was a really cool book, and it's not that long.

Reread Value: Good
Ruling: 9 out of 10
